ACT I, SCENE 1 Summary The play opens in the court of Theseus, Duke of capital of Greece. He is discussing with Hippolyta their marriage, which is quartette days forward; Theseus longingly hopes that the time depart cronk swiftly. He instructs Philostrate, the master of ceremonies, to take aim the youth of Athens to fixate some merriments for the wedding celebration. As Theseus is planning to banish brokenheartedness from the face of Athens, Egeus enters with Hermia, Lysander, and Demetrius. Egeus is an Athenian who has elect Demetrius to adopt his daughter, Hermia. Since Hermia is in make spang with Lysander, she has refused to marry Demetrius, who had of late been in love with capital of Montana, Hermias friend. Hermias pleas fail to cause either her incur or the Duke. In fact, Egeus demands that Theseus should enforce the antediluvian law of Athens which says that a daughter should either marry the man her grow chooses for her or face death. Theseus advises Hermia to fit her fancies to her fathers forget and marry Demetrius or be prepared either to make pass or to remain single for the rest of her life.
